Dana Friedman is, in all likelihood, New York's first Orthodox
Jewish, transgender comic. Her performances address a wide variety of
topics, including many outside the very unusual norms of standup comedy.
During the COVID-19 crisis, she produced and performed in
FunOrthodox: An Evening of LGBT+ Jewish Entertainment, as well as wrote for the show's host, Mayim Bialik.
Dana produces many live comedy shows including
Queernucopia An Evening of LGBT and Allied Comedy Goddesses and Heathens,
Right Down The Middle (East), (no missionaries, just funny positions),
which brings together Muslim, Jewish, Israeli, Arab, and Palestinian standup comics,
LOL Nidrei (Unforgivably Naughty Jewish Comedy) which was featured in
The Forward,
and
Orthomocks Jews, A Pre-Purim Standup Romp.
Dana is also a producer of legendary comic
Jonathan Katz's
Hey, We're Back podcast which has featured Sarah Silverman, Jon Dore, and previously unaired material by
Robin Williams and
Garry Shandling.
Dana was selected for She-Devil Comedy Festival's "Best Of The Fest", the New York Underground Comedy Festival, and has been featured on AllMedia TV's "Comedy Tsunami". She's been a guest on SiriusXM's "Tell Me Everything" with John Fugelsang, and has appeared with or opened for Janeane Garofalo, Lizz Winstead, Yanis Pappas, Christian Finnegan, Julia Scotti, Tim Dillon, Myq Kaplan, Gianmarco Soresi, and other major headliners at clubs and theaters all over North America.
